10 Cookie Mistakes You Should Never Make

Not Following Baking Instructions

Baking requires precision. Just as it can be risky to try your own substitutions, it's also not advisable to go off-roading from the baking instructions in the recipe. This includes the small steps like the order you add each of the ingredients and how you mix them together (stirring, beating, whisking, etc). Also watch out for stray ingredients getting stuck on the upper sides of the bowl and neglected as you're mixing, as this changes the balance of ingredients in your mixture. All of these small details can make a huge difference on your dough and, most importantly, the final outcome that you pull out of the oven.
