Hello sanaa, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog, and what inspired you to start it?

I started the blog about 3 years ago. I wanted people to go back into cooking from scratch by show them easy recipes using simple ingredients.

Tell us a little bit about your colorful culinary background.

I have an undergraduate degree in agriculture engineering, a master's degree in food and nutrition, took baking in France, learned sauces in Italy and I am the chef/owner of Sanaa's Gourmet Mediterranean in Sioux Falls, SD

What are your culinary influences?

Mom, Gordon Ramsay and cooks in villages all over the world.

How do you manage to run a restaurant and a blog? What are some of the everyday challenges that you face?

I love cooking and I have great staff. We work together and everyone knows his or her responsibilities which makes running the restaurant easy. I take photos of my dishes in the restaurant and then blog about in on the weekend. Sometimes I get the idea for a blog from my customers; they would ask for a tip or a recipe of a certain dish they ate at the restaurant.

What is your earliest food memory?

My grandmother. I remember waking up early to watch her making the dough for pita bread. I love eating the fresh baked pita dipped in olive oil and herbs.

Do you have a secret ingredient, a product you use a lot that is unexpected or that helps you save time?

Yes.

Is there any dish, ingredient or type of food you refuse to cook? Or anything that you refuse to eat?

I refuse to use hydrogenated fat or any pre-made sauces. I don't eat any dish that I don't know what is in it.

What are your goals for your blog? Where would you like to see it in the next year? Five years?

I would love to have the blog used as a source for healthy eating.

My worst food flop was...

I had several

Anything else you would like to share?

If you would like to have a healthy body, get a chef's knife and start cooking.
