When we asked Laura what makes Italian food so special -"Simplicity and freshness are the keywords of our cuisine."

Hello Laura Rossi, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog, and what inspired you to start it?

La Dolce Vita Cooking gives voice to a group of Italians who decided to share the beauty and the health of the Italian style of life. We started one year ago and immediately we realized how the topic is attractive among many different cultures.

Are you involved in the blogging community - how do you attract new readers?

We count mostly on the quality and the originality of our texts and imagines. Contents are based on our real life experiences and often inspired by the memories of our old relatives. Moreover we use social media tools to expand the base of our readers and followers.

What is your earliest food memory?

My earliest food memory is a pie that my mom used to prepare with stale bread and apples. That was one of the first recipes posted on la Dolce Vita Cooking. Cake of Bread Recipe

What makes Italian food and culture so special?

Simplicity and freshness are the keywords of our cuisine. We typically use extra virgin olive oil to replace other fats of animal origin for a healthier diet. Our food style, even if proposed in modern and creative ways, has its roots in the simple and “poor” recipes transmitted over time by grannies and moms.

What are some of your go to meals and snacks?

My favourite snack is a few chips of Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano) with a glass of good wine.

Another one is a small Bruschetta with Roman chicory

If you could be a contestant or guest on any cooking show what show would you choose?

We do not like competition in cooking because preparing food must not be a stressful activity, but joyful and relaxing. Of course I do know popular programs like MasterChef which I rarely follow.

Who are your culinary influences?

Our culinary influences are all the typical regional recipes of Italy.

What is your favorite kitchen tool?

My favourite kitchen tool is a simple cutting knife with a large blade that I use to cut most of the ingredients of my recipes.

What are your goals for this blog? Where would you like to see it in the next year? Five years?

The goals of La Dolce Vita Cooking are stated inside the web site:
“We, as La Dolce Vita cooking book have a simple and straightforward objective: to share with the world the positive aspects of the Italian way of living. And we do that through recipes, tutorials, history and culture selected from the limitless knowledge of our sweet country.
Through these pages we want to inspire you with new ideas, giving you good tips to improve your well-being or just stimulate your curiosity. There's always something new to learn out there!”
For next year we plan to implement a comprehensive database of recipes specially selected by La Dolce Vita Cooking from many sources. In the next five years La Dolce Vita Cooking web magazine will gradually expand its perspective including contents from other countries still keeping Italian culture and food style as the foundation.

Anything else you would like to share?

Eat healthy, enjoy life and live long in peace. This is our hearty wish to La Dolce Vita Cooking followers throughout the world.

Thank you Laura Rossi for answering our questions and see you soon!
