Hello Colleen, The Smart Cookie Cook, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog, and what inspired you to start it?

I created The Smart Cookie Cook in 2011 to deliver creative recipes on a daily basis, as well as entertaining videos, clever tips, and helpful how-tos. I am endlessly passionate about food, and it is my greatest joy to share my food with the world. Friends and family prompted me to start up my own blog, and it's taken off from there.

Are you involved in the blogging community - how do you attract new readers?

Yes, I am. Social media platforms are the best way to reach new audiences and interact with the food blogging community; I'm on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Youtube.

Who are your culinary influences?

My mother, my grandmother, my Babci, and fellow food bloggers.

If you could be a contestant or guest on any cooking show what show would you choose?

The Chew. It seems like such a fun environment, and you can interact with not one, but multiple famous foodies.

What is your earliest food memory?

Sunday mornings breakfasts were big when I was a child. My mother would make pancakes, waffles, bacon; you name it. We all slowed down for a moment to eat together.

How did you love of hummus begin?

I didn't discover how delicious it was until I made it about a year ago, and now I can't stop creating new delicious flavors!

Is there any dish, ingredient or type of food you refuse to cook?

I absolutely positively hate cream cheese; I will not touch it or eat it. People think I'm crazy, but I just can't stand the stuff. It ruins even my favorite dishes because I can taste it in anything. I also can't stand cilantro. It tastes like soap!

When you have a last minute get together, what are your go to dishes?

Pizza is quick, easy, and impressive. Pasta dishes are also a crowd-pleaser (I make a mean alfredo sauce).

What are your goals for your blog? Where would you like to see it in the next year? Five years?

I would love to continue to grow the Smart Cookie brand. The more people I can reach with my blog, the better. I want everyone who loves food to join me on this daily adventure in deliciousness. Over time, I would even love for the site to lead me to my own TV show. I put up how-to videos every week right now.

Thank you Colleen, The Smart Cookie Cook for answering our questions and see you soon!
