"Knowing that I've inspired others to get into the kitchen, and that they're cooking my recipes, well that is a feeling that just can't be beaten."

Hello The Boy Can Cook, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog, and what inspired you to start it?

I began the blog in June, so it's not even 3 months old yet! I started The Boy Can Cook mainly to share my love of cooking with anyone who wanted to read about it. What I didn't expect, however, was how many people actually tried out the recipes and cooked the food! Knowing that I've inspired others to get into the kitchen, and that they're cooking my recipes, is a feeling that just can't be beaten.

What is your earliest food memory?

Licking the mixing bowl after my Mum had just put a sponge in the oven. I must have only been about five years old. Not the most hygienic thing, I know, but I don't think you ever grow out of that!

Is it difficult balancing school and your blog?

Well I'm starting my Legal Practice Course in September, which will certainly be a test of my ability to balance my time! At the moment I have work to do in preparation, so organising myself to get the work done and keep posting regularly on the blog is a bit of a challenge, but to be honest I much prefer being busy, I tend to get more done that way.

Are you becoming involved with the blogging community?

I am! I had no idea before starting The Boy Can Cook just how vast the blogging community is. I won't lie, it was a bit daunting wading into the sea of other food blogs, trying to communicate with them and discuss their recipes, but once you get going it's really exciting. I've made friends through the blog too, I keep in touch with other bloggers regularly through Twitter. One really great thing has been building relationships with producers, some of whom are generous enough to send samples to be reviewed or featured on the blog, that's really exciting.

What is/are your go to recipe(s) if you’re preparing a last minute dinner or party?

It would depend on what I have in the cupboards really. A quick veggie pasta would be one, with any vegetables I have in the house and then plenty of good extra virgin olive oil. Another would be a quick Thai curry, which can be made in less than 20 minutes. Delicious and super quick to make, you really can't complain.

When you get home from a long trip do you have a go to dish you crave?

It would have to be something Italian. Probably a rich, slow cooked beef ragu with tagiatelle! The ultimate comfort food in my eyes.

Is there any dish, ingredient or type of food you refuse to cook or eat?

Cucumber. I've tried it so many times in the hope that I'll acquire a taste for it, but I simply can't stand the stuff. Dreary, boring, and tasteless... No thank you!

What are your goals for this blog? Where would you like to see it in the next year? Five years?

Just for it to carry on as it is, really. To continue growing, to share my recipes and thoughts with anyone interested, but mostly to inspire more people to get in the kitchen and cook. One thing I didn't expect when I started the blog was how many people actually tried out the recipes and cooked the food! Knowing that I've inspired others to get into the kitchen, and that they're cooking my recipes, well that is a feeling that just can't be beaten.

Anything else you would like to share?

Just thank you for reading my interview, and I hope that you like my blog!
