Ingredients

  • 1 (10 oz) long thin loaf French bread cut in 1 inch slices
  • 8 large eggs
  • 3 C milk
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Butter a 9x13x2 inch pan.

Step 2

Arrange bread slices in 1 layer on bottom of pan.

Step 3

In large bowl, beat eggs; add remaining ingredients, except butter. Mix.

Step 4

Pour over bread in pan. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight (or up to 36 hours).

Step 5

To bake, uncover. Dot with butter and put in oven. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.
