Carolyn's famous cream cheese pound cake

This is my Granny Carolyn's pound cake recipe, and one that was used frequently as long as I can remember. The cream cheese make it deliciously rich. My friends ask me to make this one often!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 sticks of margarine, softened
  • 6 eggs
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Using a mixer, cream sugar and margarine till light and fluffy. Add cream cheese and mix well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla extract.

Step 2

Slowly mix in flour one cup at a time and blend until smooth. Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan.

Step 3

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 and a half hours. Cake is done when a toothpick or straw inserted in center comes out clean.

Variations of this cake:
add 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Using banana or lemon flavoring instead of vanilla. All are delicious!!
