Ingredients
- 2 cups raisins
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
Preparation
Step 1
* Add water to raisins in saucepan.
* Boil for 5 minutes.
* Let cool.
Step 2
* Sift together dry ingredients.
* Set aside.
Step 3
* In bowl of stand mixture, cream shortening and sugar.
* Add eggs and beat well.
* Add cooled raisins, vanilla, and pecans.
* Add dry ingredients and mix well.
Step 4
* Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet.
* Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly browned.
* Remove to wire rack to cool.
