Onion Coconut Masala

Ingredients

  • 2 big onions,
  • 10 garlic cloves,
  • 1 piece ginger,
  • 2 teaspoon poppy seeds,
  • 5 cloves,
  • 2 cinnamon sticks,
  • 1/2 cup grated dry coconut,
  • salt to taste

Method

1. Slice onions. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a pan.

2. Add cinnamon, cloves, onions, poppy seeds, and coconut. Keep mixing.

3. When the mixture turns golden brown, remove from the heat. Let cool and then grind into a fine paste.

This masala is hot and enhances the flavour of any veg/non-veg. curry or usal.
Best if used fresh.
Add 1 teaspoon peppercorns for variation.
