Ingredients
- 2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- 1-1/4 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
- 3 tablespoons and 1-3/4 teaspoons honey
- 3-1/3 cups bread flour
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons and 1-3/4 teaspoons honey
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2-1/3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon butter, melted
Preparation
Step 1
Place water, yeast, 1/2 the honey and 3 1/3 cups of bread flour in Kitchenaid mixer.
Step 2
Mix until smooth.
Step 3
Let rest 30 minutes or until bubbly.
Step 4
Add whole wheat flour, honey, butter and salt.
Step 5
Mix until smooth and elastic.
Step 6
Place in large oiled bowl. Cover with a towel and rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 7
Punch down. Shape into loaves. Place in loaf pans and cover with a towel to rest for 1 hour or until 1 inch over the edge of pan.
Step 8
Bake at 375 for 25-20 minutes.
Step 9
Remove from oven and brush with butter.
