Ingredients
- 4 large peppers cut in halves and seeded
- 1lb. turkey meat
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic crushed
- 2 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 16 oz. tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 cup cooked rice
- Grated mozzarella cheese - optional
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Cook meat, onion and garlic until done. Drain. Add seasonings and sauce. Simmer covered for 10 min. Stir in rice. Cool. Boil peppers in some water with 1 tsp. of salt and sugar until tender then remove and cool. Stuff peppers with meat mixture and bake at 350 degrees until hot or bubbly. Add grated cheese prior to baking if desired.
Step 2
Optional - stuff and freeze stuffed peppers then bake later
