Ingredients

  • 1 (0.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

In a bowl, dissolve yeast into the water. Let stand for 10 minutes.

Step 2

In a 4 cup glass or plastic container, combine the flour and the sugar. Mix.

Step 3

Pour the milk into the flour and sugar mixture. Then add the yeast and water mixture.

Step 4

Consider this day #1. Poor the mixture into a large Ziplock baggie (or you can divide into individual small baggies for your friends.Just let them know its day 1 and the next steps) Leave at room temperature for the next 10 days. Mash around the bag for the next 5 days. On day six, add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk. Mash the bag every day after until day 10. On day 10, if you haven't already divided the mix on day 1, you can now, with the intention that it will be used up right away. Or you can just use the whole mixture to yourself!

Step 5

Follow the instructions in Part 2 if you intend to make the actual bread.
