Chocolate Bread Pudding & Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Hot Water
  • 1 Loaf French Bread - day old, crusts removed, cubed
  • 1-2 Tbsp Butter
  • Caramel Sauce:
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Step 2

Melt all but 2 tbsp of the chocolate chips.

Step 3

Whisk together condensed milk, eggs, hot water and melted chocolate. Stir bread into chocolate mixture and let stand for a few minutes to let chocolate soak in.

Step 4

Spoon bread mixture into lightly buttered 3L baking dish. Dot top with butter.

Step 5

Bake for 45-50 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips.

Step 6

Make caramel sauce by combining butter, whipping cream and brown sugar in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 3-5 minutes. Serve warm over chocolate bread pudding.
