Ingredients
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose or whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 375 F.
Step 2
Mix brown sugar, shortening, buttermilk, vanilla in 3 quart bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Step 3
Shape dough into 1inch balls. Place about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten cookies with bottom of glass dipped in water.
Step 4
Bake until golden brown. 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
