Ingredients
- 1- .25 oz. pkg active dry yeast
- 2 Tb. brown sugar
- 1 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. warm water (110 degrees)
- 4 c. flour
- 2 c. warm water (110 degrees)
- 2 Tb. baking soda
- 2 Tb. melted butter
- 2 Tb. kosher salt
Preparation
Step 1
In large bowl dissolve yeast, brown sugar and salt in 1 1/2 c. warm water. Stir in flour and knead dough on floured surface until smooth and elastic (~8 mins.). Place in greased bowl, turn to coat surface. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Step 2
After dough has risen, combine 2 c. warm water and baking soda in 8" square pan.
Step 3
Remove dough from bowl and cut into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into a 3 foot rope, pencil thin and twist into pretzel shape. Dip pretzel into soda water and place on parchment covered cookie sheet and let rise 15-20 minutes.
Step 4
Bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with salt or cinnamon and sugar.
