Ingredients
- FOR THE CAKE
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup butter milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- FOR THE FROSTING
- 5 T butter softened
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup smooth peanut butter
- 2 T low fat milk
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease a 13x9 baking pan.
Step 2
To bake the cake, combine sugars, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Whisk until smooth. Stir in the boiling water. Pour into prepared pan and bake 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool
Step 3
To make the frosting, mix the butter and powdered sugar with an electric mixer. add in the vanilla and peanut butter and mix well. add in the milk and beat until smooth. Add extra milk if needed one T at a time. Ice cooled cake.
Crunchy peanut butter can be used as well.
