Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz. package phyllo dough
  • 1/2 lb. butter, melted
  • 2 lbs. granny smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced
  • 1/2 c. raisins, optional
  • 1/2 walnuts, optional
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 t. lemon juice
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 2 T flour
  • Pam spray

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In bowl, combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour. Set aside.

Step 2

Open package of phyllo that has been defrosted and at room temperature. Take one sheet and lay flat on a baking tray sprayed with Pam. Using pastry brush, lightly dab melted butter on phyllo sheet.

Step 3

Repeat using 10 sheets. Spoon half of the apple mixture at one end of phyllo sheets (long side) and carefully roll. Seal end with melted butter and butter the top of roll. Repeat with remaining phyllo sheets and apples.

Step 4

Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar, cut into 1 1/2 inch servings, and serve. Enjoy!

Remove Phyllo dough from freezer and place in the refrigerator the day before you need to use it. Then when you want to use the phyllo, remove it from the refrigerator and let sit on the counter for two hours and allow to come to room temperature before using.

Any leftover phyllo can be refrigerated for a week, or refrozen up to a month
