- 1 1/4 cup peanuts
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- 1 tsp baking soda

Preparation
Step 1
Grease a large cookie sheet wrapped in aluminum foil. Set in a warm oven.
Step 2
In a heavy saucepan, over medium heat, bring to a boil sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Set candy thermometer in place and continue cooking. At 250 degrees, stir in peanuts. Don't stir constantly. Stir until temperature reaches 300 degrees or until a small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water separates into hard and brittle threads.
Step 3
Remove from heat. Immediately stir in butter and baking soda; pour at once onto the cookie sheet from the oven. Carefully spread mixture onto pan with a bit of shaking, making sure not to break the air bubbles. Cool. Shape candy into pieces.
