  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1/2 cup white sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup sugar until golden. Pour sugar into bottom of baking dish.

Step 3

In another saucepan, bring milk just to a boil over medium heat. Stir hot milk, a little at a time, into beaten eggs and egg yolks until well combined. Stir in 1/2 cup sugar. Pour into pan.

Step 4

Place mixture in a raosting pan, allowing boiling water to reach 1/2 way up the baking pan.

Step 5

Bake 40 minutes until set. Cool, invert, and serve.
