Ingredients

  • Pie:
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Cocoa
  • 1/3 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 3 Slightly beaten Egg Yolks
  • 2 Tbsps butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 9 inch baked pie shell
  • Meringue:
  • 3 Egg Whites
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 6 Tbsps sugar

Preparation

Step 1

In a saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, flour, & salt. Over Medium heat.

Step 2

Gradually stir in milk.

Step 3

Cook and Stir for 2 minutes.

Step 4

Remove from heat and stir small amount of the hot mixture into the yolks. Immediately return to hot mixture.

Step 5

Cook until thick stirring constantly.

Step 6

Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla.

Step 7

Pour into cooled pie shell. Spread Margarine on top of pie. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Step 8

Meringue:
Beat the egg whites and cream of tartar. Add sugar, Beat more. Then add the vanilla when almost stiff.
