Ingredients

  • 1-3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1-1/4 cup applesauce

Preparation

Step 1

Sift onto wax paper the flour, baking soda, salt and spices.

Step 2

Beat in 3 qt bowl brown sugar, shortening and egg.

Step 3

Mix in all dry ingredients with applesauce

Step 4

Pour onto greased 8'' square pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
