Ingredients

  • 5 cups sliced apples
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup regular rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, ginger or cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts and/or coconut (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Core apples with apple corer. Using paring knife take skin off apples. Cut seeds/core out. Slice apple piece thinly. Repeat until you have 5 cups sliced apple. Sprinkle in the 2 tbsp sugar. Stir till mixed.

Step 2

For topping, in a mixing bowl combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and nutmeg, ginger, or cinnamon. Cut in margarine or butter till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in nuts or coconut. Sprinkle topping over filling.

Step 3

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 35 minutes or till bruit is tender and topping is golden. Serve warm with ice cream or whipping cream. Serves 6.
