Ingredients
- English Scones
- 4 cups All purpose flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¾ cup shortening
- 1 cup raisins
- ½ cup candied chopped fruit (optional, just add more raisins)
- 1 cup milk
- In a deep mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. With a pastry blender, cut in the shortening. Stir in the raisins, chopped fruit. Blend in milk. Gather dough together and knead on a lightly floured board until smooth (2 to 3 min). Roll dough out to ½”, cut into circles. Bake 375F for 10 mins. or until slightly browned
