Ingredients
- Fast Cinnamon Buns
- 2/3 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- ½ cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup chopped pecans (raisins)
- Preheat oven at 425F. Generously grease 12 muffin cups. Stir butter, sugar and cinnamon together until mixed well. Set aside. Using a fork, stir flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl until blended.
- Cut in shortening with 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in milk. Dough will be very soft. Gently knead 10 times.
- Using a floured rolling pin, roll into a 9” square, about 1/3” thick. Spread on butter mixture, add nuts or raisins.
- Roll up jelly style. Pinch seams together. Slice into 12 (3/4”) pinwheels. Place cut down, in muffin cups.
- Bake in centre of preheated oven until cinnamon buns are golden, about 15-18 mins. Immediately remove buns from muffin cups. Makes 12
