Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup cocoa
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups butter milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup oil
- 4 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and slightly cooled.

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven 350•
Grease the bottoms of three 9" pans.
Step 2
Mix the first 6 ingredients in a bowl, set a side.
Step 3
In another bowl beat eggs on high, until thick. Add the rest of the wet ingredients and mix on low until well blended.
Step 4
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until batter is smooth.
Step 5
Divide the batter equally among the 3 pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until done.
Step 6
Cool cake in pan for 10 minutes, before removing and let cool completely.
Step 7
Ice with chocolate frosting of your choice.
