Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- t tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- hard drying icing

Preparation
Step 1
Beat together butter and sugar. Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla. Slowly add the flour and cocoa powder, a little bit at a time. Mix until you have soft dough.
Step 2
Halve the dough, and flatten each into large disks. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
Step 3
Preheat oven to 375°.
Step 4
Unwrap the dough, and roll out to 1/8" thickness. Use a circular cookie cutter to cut out portions. Use a slightly smaller cookie cutter to make an indentation around the outside of each cookie. Poke 4 button holes in the middle of each cookie.
Step 5
Bake for 6 minutes, and let cool completely before using the icing to pipe stitches on each cookie.
