Mozzarella Sticks

Ingredients

  • 1 package reduced-fat mozzarella string cheese, cut in half.
  • 1 egg
  • Italian seasonings (basil, oregano, salt, pepper, etc)
  • 8 tablespoons panko (Japanese) bread crumbs
  • 8 tablespoons flour

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Place flour on a plate. On a different plate, mix bread crumbs with Italian seasonings such as basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. In a small bowl, whisk egg.

Step 3

Coat one piece of string cheese in flour, then dip into egg, then coat with breadcrumbs. Place onto cookie sheet. Repeat with the rest of the cheese strings

Step 4

Place into freezer for at least 30 minutes.

Step 5

Bake 5-6 minutes or until heated through. (Cheese may melt slightly and loose shape)

Keep uncooked mozza sticks in a bag in the freezer until needed.
