Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Shortening
- 1 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 lg Eggs
- 2 cups Flour
- 1/4 t Baking Powder
- 3/4 t Baking Soda
- 1 t Salt
- 1/4 cup Butter Milk
- 1 cup Mashed Ripe Bananas
- 1/2 cup chopped Nuts (if desired)
- 1 container Whipped Cream
- 2-3 Yellow Bananas

Preparation
Step 1
Cream shortening and sugar together until fluffy. Beat in eggs thoroughly. Sift together baking powder, soda and salt. Stir in alternately with mashed bananas.
Step 2
Pour mixture evenly into 2 greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 min. Check with toothpick to ensure center is cooked. Allow to cool.
Step 3
Put one cake layer on plate and cover top and sides with whipped cream. Put a layer of sliced bananas on top of layer. Put second layer on top and cover again with whipped cream. Top off with a layer of sliced bananas.
