Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of butter or margarine
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp of cream of tartar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp of vanilla
  • 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1+ cup of flour
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°.

Step 2

Beat butter with electric mixer for 30 seconds.

Step 3

Add 1 cup of sugar, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Beat until combined.

Step 4

Add egg and vanilla, beat until well combined.

Step 5

Stir together flour and cocoa. Beat in as much of the flour mixture as you can.

Step 6

Stir in the remaining flour mixture. (Batter should be fairly stiff)

Step 7

Drop using slightly rounded teaspoons 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Step 8

Stir together 2 tbsp of sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon and sprinkle on unbaked cookies.

Step 9

Bake in a 375° oven for 10 minutes or until edges are firm.

Step 10

Cool on a wire rack.
