Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 2 cups chopped carrots
  • 2 cups finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 cup yellow split peas
  • 1 cup green split peas
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Mrs. Dash salt-free seasoning blend
  • 1/2 lb ham

Preparation

Step 1

Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large pot. Cook onion, carrots, celery and garlic until onion is translucent. Stir in peas, broth, seasoning and ham. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 1/2 hours, stirring frequently. Purée in batches with a blender or food processor. Optional- For those that prefer some texture in the soup, do not purée entirely! Return to pot and heat and eat.
