Pecan Cake Bars

Ingredients
- Crust:
- 1 cup butter
- 2 2/3 cup flour
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- ½ tsp salt (I don’t use any if butter is salted)
- Topping:
- ½ cup butter
- 1/3 cup corn syrup (or honey)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. heavy cream
- 2 cups chopped pecans

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350.
Step 2
Line a 9X13” pan with foil, leaving 2” overhang on all sides.
Step 3
Make crust... cream together sugar & butter until fluffy.
Step 4
Add in flour and salt. Mix until crumbly. Press crust into foil lined pan.
Step 5
Bake about 20 min. until golden brown.
Step 6
Prepare filling while crust is cooking. Combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup & cream in a saucepan, stirring over medium heat. Simmer mixture for 1 min.
Step 7
Stir in chopped pecans.
Step 8
Remove crust from oven & immediately pour pecan filling over hot crust, spreading it to cover entire surface.
Step 9
Bake another 20 min. Remove pan & allow bars to fully cool in pan.
Step 10
Transfer foil to cutting board & slice into bars.
