- Chow-chow- 1 cup (A medium veg)
- Moong dal -1/3 cup
- green chili - 1-2
- cumin seeds- 1 tea spoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon
- salt - as per taste
- oil - 1 tea spoon
- To temper:
- mustard - 1/2 tea spoon
- urad dal - 1 tea spoon
- Bengal Gram - 1 table spoon
- dried red chili - 1
- curry leaves - a few
- perungayam / hing - a pinch
- oil - 1 tea spoon

Step 1
1. dry roast the moong dal until nice aroma comes.
2. Boil 1 1/2 cups of water and add the roasted moong daal, cumin seeds, and green chili ,turmeric powder and cook until the dal is cooked well. (do not smash completely, keep the shape of the dal as shown in the pics)
3.Then Add the Diced Chow-Chow pieces, and salt in to the dal mix and cook for another 10 minutes in medium flame. Add 1/4 cup of water if required. (Normally, this veggie will not take much water to cook. So the moist in dal itself will be sufficient).
4.When the veggie is cooked and the consistency is thick, do the tempering in tadka pan with the listed ingredients, and add to the veggie pan.
5. Mix well and cook for another minute or two. Do not let it burn, keep stirring.
