Ingredients

  • 16 cups of cucumbers cubed or cut small, 1/2 cup of pickling salt, 1 tsp. of dry mustard, 2 tbsp. of alum, 1/2 tsp. turmeric, 1 tsp. of pickling spice, 2 cups of sugar, vinegar to cover.

Preparation

Step 1

Wash and cut cucumbers. Sprinkle with salt. Cover with boiling water and let stand overnight. Drain in the morning and rinse well. Put the cucumbers in a crock or 2 gallon pail and cover with vinegar about 2/3 up on the cucumbers. Add remaining ingredients. Each day for 9 days stir in 1 cup of sugar. All Finished. Can be left in crock or pail or put in jars. Enjoy!
