Get a ton of cucumbers in your garden and can't eat them quick enough? Bottle Sweet pickle spears to enjoy through the winter as a side dish.

Ingredients
- 4 lbs cucumbers
- 4 c sugar
- 3 3/4 c vinegar
- 3 TBsp canning salt
- 4 tsp celery seed
- 4 tsp turmeric
- 1 1/2 tsp mustard seed

Preparation
Step 1
Slice ends off cucumbers and cut into spears.
Step 2
Pack spears into jars. 3-4 inches for pint jars. longer cucumbers go into quarts.
Step 3
Bring ingredients to a boil.
Step 4
Pour hot liquid over cucumbers leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
Step 5
Add lids and rings and process 10 minutes in boiling water bath.
Step 6
Makes 5 pints.
