This is a delicious pie that you can substitute walnuts for pecans. I have cut out half a cup of sugar out of the original recipe to make it less sweet. The walnuts are better than the pecans, less sweet with a wonderful nutty flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 9 inch unbaked piecrust

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400F. Line a pie dish with the pastry.

Step 2

Beat the eggs well in a large bowl. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, salt, melted butter and vanilla, mix thoroughly. Pour pecans or walnuts on to the bottom of the pie crust. Pour the mixture over top.

Step 3

Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce hear to 325F for 25 to 30 minutes.
