Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 package yeast
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup grated swiss cheese
  • 4 cups flour

Preparation

Step 1

Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt an butter.

Step 2

Cool until lukewarm.

Step 3

Place water in a large bowl. Add yeast and stir until dissolved.

Step 4

Stir in milk mixture, oats, cheese and 1/2 the flour and beat into blended.

Step 5

Add enough of the remaining flour to make soft dough then knead on floured surface for 10 minutes.

Step 6

Place in greased bowl, turn to grease top, then cover and let rise for 1 hour.

Step 7

Punch down then turn onto floured board. Divide into 1/2 and shape into loaves.

Step 8

Place 2 loaves in 2 greased 9 by 5 by 3 inch loaf pans and cover.

Step 9

Let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.

Step 10

Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
