Ingredients

  • 5 whole allspice
  • 5 peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 rutabagas
  • 2 carrots
  • 4 large potatoes
  • ground nutmeg or cinnamon
  • 1 tbl butter

Preparation

Step 1

Bring allspice, peppercorns & salt to a boil in a large pot filled with water.

Step 2

peel & finely chop the rutabagas & carrots. Add to pot.

Step 3

Reduce temp to a simmer & cook for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Peel & finely chop potatoes while simmering.

Step 5

When 15 minutes are up, add the potatoes & cook another 20 minutes until potatoes are fork tender.

Step 6

With a slotted spoon, remove potatoes rutabagas & carrots and put in a mixing bowl. Mash them well, adding just enough cooking water to get a creamy puree.

Step 7

Place in a serving bowl, sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon and dot with butter.
