Ingredients

  • 1/4 sugar
  • 1/4 packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1 cup chopped salted cashews, macadamia nuts or toasted almonds
  • 1 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

Preparation

Step 1

1. Mix sugars, margarine, vanilla and egg yolk.
2. Stir in flour and salt.
3. Press dough in ungreased rectangular pan with floured hands.
4. Beat egg white and water. Brush over dough.
5. Sprinkle with cashews and press them lightly into dough.
6. Bake about 25 minutes or until light brown at 350 F.
7. Let cool 10 minutes. Cut into 3-inch squares. Cut each square diagonally in half.
8. Drizzle with chocolate.
