  • 2 1/4 dried peas (wash and soak overnight 1 large onion, peeled and chopped 1 large carrot, chopped 2 celery stalks, chopped. 1 8 oz ham steak diced, salt and pepper to your liking.

Step 1

Place in a 4 quart pan with the vegetables, ham and 2 1/2 quarts of water. Bring to boil . Skim the scum (foam) off the top of the soup Cover and bring simmer about 1 1/2 hours, or until peas are tender,stirring in case they stick to the bottom of the pan.

If you don't like ham, you can use many other cured meats..or you can use ham bone. Also in place of the salt you can substitute chicken bullion in it's place. Two should be sufficient
