- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg white
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup finely crushed candy canes or peppermint candies (3 oz.)

Step 1
Cream butter and powdered sugar together in large bowl until light
and fluffy. -Add egg and egg white and beat well. Stir together
flour, baking powder into large bowl. Beat dry ingredients into
butter mixture. Stir in peppermint candies. Gather dough into
ball. Wrap in plastic and chill 1 hour to overnight.
Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 350 deg. Grease
baking sheets. Form dough into 1" balls. Roll in additional
powdered sugar and place on prepared sheets, spacing 2 inches
apart.» Using the tines of a fork, flatten each cookie, creating a
crosshatch pattern. Bake until cookies are golden on bottom, about 15-26 minutes. Remove from pans and cool. Makes about 30
cookies. ~
