This was a childhood favorite. My mom couldn't make these fast enough to eat. Hot, and sugary and so sweet.

Ingredients

  • 1 Quart of Vegetable oil (to deep fry in a pan)
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 1 Tbs sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 c milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 Tbs Vegetable Oil
  • 3 c of apples peeled, cored and diced
  • 1 c of Powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or use an electric skillet. Set at 375 degrees.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Pour in milk, eggs, oil. Mix well. Mix in apples.

Step 3

Drop spoonful's of the batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Cook for 5 mins. Remove with a slotted spoon to drain the oil out and place on a plate covered with a paper towel to absorb the oil some more. Sprinkle the powdered sugar on them while still hot and serve.

You can use cinnamon sugar in place of the Powdered.
