- 5-6 strips bacon
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 sliced onion (I like sweet)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 tsp cider vinegar (optional)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- Dash cayenne pepper (optional)

Step 1
Fry bacon in large skillet (cast iron is best for this receipe but other will work). Remove the bacon to drain on a paper towel. Leave bacon drippings in skillet. Chop cabbage and onion and put in the skillet with bacon drippings and hot over med heat. Continue to cook till cabbage starts to wilt.
Step 2
Crumble bacon over cabbage and onion and add the broth, vinegar, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Remove to serving dish and sprinkle with hot pepper (if desired)
Sweet onions work great. Vinegar adds just a bit of tart flavor, if desired.
