Great Grandma Reese's Very Black Cake

This was a very popular cake then and still is. One that I remember my mother always making.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. peanut oil
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 c. Hersheys baking cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Put all ingredients into one big bowl. Cream mixture 3 or 4 minutes until smooth. Mixture will be thin.

Step 2

Pour into greased and floured 9x13 cake pan and bake at 350 for 35 minutes.

This is a very dark, moist cake which stays fresh for several days.
