  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c. sugar
  • Dash of salt
  • 2/3 c. boiling water
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 3/4 cup crisco
  • 3 eight inch unbaked pie crusts

Preparation

Step 1

Mis one cup molasses, 2/3 c. boiling water and 1 tsp baking soda. Pour mixture into three unbaked pie shells.

Step 2

In separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, crisco and dash of salt. Mixture will be crumbly. Divide into thirds and put on top of molasses mixture.

Step 3

Bake at 350 for 40 minutes until molasses mixture comes up on top and top is dark brown.

Delicious warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top
