Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 5 cups all-purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 TBS Melted Butter, melted
  • ¼ cups baking soda

Preparation

Step 1

In Mixer Bowl add 1 1/2 Cup of Warm water, yeast and 2 TBS Sugar and let sit for about 5 minutes.

Step 2

After 5 minutes to your liquid mix add in Flour, Salt and Melted Butter. Set your mixer with dough hook and begin mixing. Let your mixer kneed for about a good 6-10 minutes.

Step 3

Remove your Dough and allow it to rest about 10 minutes, covered lightly

Step 4

Form your dough into rolls, large or small of your choice and let sit while you do the next step

Step 5

To a pot add in 8 cups of water and bring to a boil and lower to a simmer, add in your baking soda a little at a time and bring back to a simmer ( do not add it in all at one time, or you will have a mess over spill out the pot)

Step 6

Now take each dough roll and place in the boiling baking soda solution for 45 seconds, then turn over and do other side for 30 minutes. Remove with slotted spoon and place on a parchment lined pan.

Step 7

When you have finished each one. - Cut an X slit on the top of each Roll - Brush with an egg wash, and sprinkle with Kosher salt on the top.

Step 8

Bake in 400 Degree F Oven for about 20 Minutes until nice and brown.
