Ingredients

  • Cake
  • 1 Cup Shortening (1/2 Butter 1/2 Vegetable Shortening)
  • 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 3 Level Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Black Walnuts
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • Frosting
  • 1/2 Cup Shortening (part butter)
  • 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Milk

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add dry ingredients, walnuts, milk and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until well mixed and creamy, about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Bake at 350 for 45 to 60 minutes. Let cool. Mix frosting ingredients. Spread frosting over cake.

Best if made in 2 round cake pans, layer cake after both are frosted. Seal middle seam with frosting.
