Group Food By Theme

Apply some logic to your cooking space, and store foods together according to their “theme." Instead of stacking boxes of dry goods together, canned items together, bags of grains together and so on, store food according to what it goes with. Allocate a section of your pantry or cupboard for breakfast items: cereal, oats, tea and coffee. Do the same for all your baking items, and ingredients you use for your favorite dishes, for example pasta sauce next to pasta. It both helps you keep track of when you're running low on items, and gives you inspiration when thinking about putting meals together, as the items are already grouped together.
