RECALL: Threat of Listeria Contamination Spreads

House of Thaller is recalling select packages of hummus after an ingredient supplier informed them of a listeria contamination risk. It is among at least 14 other companies who have issued Listeria-related recalls within the past month.

Listeria  can cause infections in young children,  the elderly, and immunocomprimised individuals. Symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea may occur. Pregnant women should avoid contact with Listeria, as it has been linked to miscarriages and stillbirths.

No case of Listeria as a result of consuming these hummus products has been reported at this time. Consumers in all 50 states should still take precautions.
