"Cooking should be relaxing and fun."

Hello Anne-Marie, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog, and what inspired you to start it?

I began my blog in October 2004 to document my Thanksgiving dinner plans. Since then it's gone from a place to share favorite recipes, cake decorating ideas, diet and weight loss recipes, to healthy living.

What is your earliest food memory?

Eating the carrots I found in the refrigerator in my dad's office when I was less than two years old. I thought they were very bitter.

Are you involved in the blogging community - how do you attract new readers?

I attract new readers via Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. My aim is to provide healthy and delicious recipes that are easy and quick to make.

Do you have a secret weapon in the kitchen?

My husband! After a recent brain surgery, it was up to him to go grocery shopping and start cooking for the family. I always knew he was a good cook. He's the one who introduced me to making spaghetti sauce from scratch, chicken adobo and fish vera cruz, after all. But he's also really good at winging it and making something up from the ingredients he has on hand.

What is/are your go to recipe(s) if you’re preparing a last minute dinner or party?

These aren't last minute, but they're simple and easy to make if you have a little time:
Beer Can Chicken
Collard Greens

If you could be a contestant or guest on any cooking show what show would you choose?

I've participated in blogger cookoffs before and hated it. Too much pressure! Cooking should be relaxing and fun.
That being said, if I could be a judge on a show, I'd pick Top Chef or Top Chef Masters. Still the best competitive cooking show out there!

We'd all like to eat healthier, what's the first step that people should take when starting out on a diet?

Drink lots of water, preferably filtered water. Then try introducing veggies into your diet via salads, stir fries, and even crudites with a healthy dip like hummus.

Is there any dish, ingredient or type of food you refuse to cook or eat?

No! I'm planning to make squirrel stew next week, in fact.

What are your goals for this blog? Where would you like to see it in the next year? Five years?

Just to continue building my readership by providing them with healthy inspiration and delicious recipes they can easily make at home.

Anything else you would like to share?

I'd love to know what my readers would like to see! More recipes? Exercise tips? Restaurant and travel reviews? Feel free to reach out to me on Facebook or Twitter!

Thank you Anne-Marie for answering our questions and see you soon!
