You’ve heard of New York style. You’ve heard of Chicago deep dish. Now it’s time for a new city’s pizza to shine. In this respect, Detroit is primed to knock the other cities out of the water.

Detroit pizza reflects much of its city’s history. It’s baked in industrial blue steel pans that were used in automobile factories back in the day, giving it its distinctive square shape.

Influenced by Sicilian cooking, Detroit pizza consists of a thick spongy crust that’s both soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It’s topped with red sauce and a layer of caramelized Wisconsin brick cheese that crusts at the edges.

Holy pizza batman. I'm a NYer thru and thru but I gotta give Detroit some major props .......... #pizza #detroit #detroitpizza #buddyspizza #wow #starving #instafood #pizzaaddict #amazing #rockcity #thed
